A few weeks ago my sister decided that she wanted to have a girlfriend getaway to New Mexico. She repeatedly asked me for suggestions about what they could do while they were in New Mexico. Let’s just say they weren’t impressed with many of the things I listed (golfing, mountain biking, fishing, zip lining etc.)
With the realization that not everyone shares the same interests I have – I wanted to put together a list of alternatives that still have the rocky mountain vibe.
The first thing I think it’s important to note – there are plenty houses for rent. Like this one, where you and 11 of your closest girlfriends can stay. (you can even have a nice catered meal)
Once you get here, your adventure awaits. Maybe you’re just in it for the Instagrams (I’m not judging). If that’s the case – you can hop on a chair lift to the top of the mountain, eat lunch and have a drink at the summit haus before hopping back on the lift to go home. All of your friends will be baffled as to how you hiked a mountain and still looked so good.
Maybe you’re competitive, and want to challenge your friends to a few games of tennis. We’ve got that.
If you’re feeling a little adventurous, you can head out to the lake where you can rent a paddle boat for a few hours and just be one with nature.
Of course there’s plenty of shopping to be done in Angel Fire. If a day trip is more your speed, with just a short, scenic trip through the mountains you can explore Taos, and get your retail therapy in.
If manicures, pedicures, a massage and some local wine are more your speed; fear not, we have that too.
You might have always wanted to play golf, but haven’t had a good opportunity to learn. We’ve got some great instructors, and you know what they say, there’s strength in numbers. Get signed up for a group clinic, and finish it off with a nice cocktail at the country club.
What I’m getting at here – there isn’t just one way to explore Angel Fire. Sometimes you need to get the blood flowing, and want to barrel down a mountain on a bike. Other times, you just need a break from the normal day-to-day. The reality is, it doesn’t matter what kind of vacationer you are. All your girlfriend getaway needs can be found in Angel Fire.
