Holiday Results 2013

ANGEL FIRE, NM (January 3, 2014) - Angel Fire Resort announced today they welcomed 10% more skier visits during the holiday period from the same period a year ago. Guests of the resort had nearly the whole mountain available to them, as well as the brand new front-side terrain park, Powder City, for skiing and riding. Angel Fire Resort, the only ski mountain in the state to offer night time skiing, also saw a rising interest from snowboarders and skiers carving turns after sunset. The hotel rooms were packed with guests from Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico as the Lodge at Angel Fire Resort saw a 15% increase this year over last year's holiday period. Angel Fire attributes the jump in holiday attendance over last year to early season snowfall, early December cold temperatures allowing for extensive snowmaking and an expanded marketing effort. The high attendance sets an early season pace close to previous record years.

"There's nothing better than promising the best and then delivering it," explains Dan Swanson, director of marketing, Angel Fire Resort. "We've spent the past couple of months reaching out to skiers and boarders across the southwest. We guaranteed one of the best mountain experiences in the southern Rockies and we delivered."

In addition to the skier visits, recording-breaking ski school numbers are the best they've been in the past 15 years, all while maintaining an advantageous class size and excellent guest satisfaction scores.

With nearly a foot of natural snowfall in the past week and one of the most expansive snowmaking systems in the southwest, Angel Fire opened over 90 percent of the mountain to holiday visitors.

"Our huge attendance shows one thing, this mountain is no longer just about skiing," states, Swanson. "You can go boarding, you can go tubing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing and even go down an old-fashioned sledding hill. Adding in our new terrain parks and night time mountain activities, we're trying to provide as many options to our guests as possible and it's working."

With more winter storms expected, conditions at the resort are expected to get even better. Angel Fire Resort will continue to draw visitors throughout January with the MLK holiday weekend and their 10th Annual Big Ol' Texas Weekend, January 24-26, 2014. Night time skiing will remain open from 4pm-8pm, weather permitting, Fridays and Saturdays throughout the season.
