Independence Day is coming up quick, and there’s no better place to celebrate freedom over the 4th of July weekend than the Enchanted Circle in the Southern Rocky Mountains. With average summer temperatures in the 70s, come escape the heat and enjoy our scenic beauty and abundant festivities this 4th of July.

COOL SUMMER NIGHTS CONCERT SERIES
Friday, June 30 |
Music can take you down a path you’ve never traveled before. The Cool Summer Nights Concert Series this 4th of July weekend will feature a double feature – Gleewood + Billy Dawson & Lainey Edwards! Bring a blanket or camping chairs and pack a picnic or enjoy food, wine and beer from the local food trucks. Be sure to check out the Kids’ Zone with giant jenga, lawn games and face painting. This is a free event and family friendly from 5-8:30pm at Frontier Park.

Friday, June 30
| The Friday Golf Night Scramble  includes a 9-Hole Scramble with $1 beers during the round. Bring your own 3-person team, or we can put you on a team. Join us for a fun evening of golf and drinks from 4-7:30pm at the Country Club.


TRASH TO TREASURES FLEA MARKET
Saturday, July 1 & Sunday, July 2 | Largest annual fundraiser for the Shuter Library, this community-wide flea market is held on July 1-2 at the Community Center. All community donations of good quality, gently used items help make this event a fun and exciting way to support your local library.


NASHVILLE TO NEW MEXICO
Saturday, July 1 | Head over to Eagle Nest for a festival-style event featuring Billy Dawson’s 3rd annual ‘Nashville To New Mexico‘ Hit songwriters concert from 5-8 pm.


TENNIS OLYMPICS
Sunday, July 2
| Join us from 1-4pm to test your tennis skills in the Tennis Olympics! $12 per player includes prizes and awards. Players will be divided into teams to compete with doubles match play, singles match play, triples and a big group doubles team game. You will be able to “Go For The Gold”.



ART + FARMERS’ MARKET
Sunday, July 2 | This high altitude farmer’s market will offer the best in fresh, locally-grown produce and products such as honey, soaps, and baked goods. Sunday mornings will be the ideal time to check out paintings, pottery and jewelry from local New Mexican artisans at the Art + Farmers’ Market.

Sunday, July 2 | It’s the perfect summer race-cation destination for the entire family! Offering distances for everyone including a Full Marathon, Half Marathon, 5K Fun Race & Happy Feet Kids Run. Kids’ Happy Feet Kids Run starts at 10 am!

VIETNAM VETERANS MEMORIAL CEREMONIES
Monday, July 3 | Ceremonies will be held 11am-1pm to transfer the operational duties of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial from the NM State Parks department to the NM Department of Veteran Services. Gov. Susanna Martinez is expected to speak, as well as personnel from NM Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources (State Parks) and NM Department of Veterans Services.


PANCAKE BREAKFAST
Tuesday, July 4 | 
Enjoy pancakes outside with friends and family from 8-11 am at Olympic Park hosted by Angel Fire Rotary. To get there head south of Angel Fire on HWY 434, turn right at Country Club Dr and you will see the park on the right. 


4th of JULY PARADE & CELEBRATION IN RED RIVER
Tuesday, July 4 | Red River is hosting their annual 4th of July Parade & Celebration! The day begins at 10 am with the largest parade in northern New Mexico, followed by a full day of family-friendly activities all over town. After the parade stroll down to Brandenburg Park where you can enjoy live music and good old fashioned family fun, then head to the Red River Community House for its annual July 4th Egg Toss & Family Games.


PARADE & FIREWORKS DISPLAY OVER EAGLE NEST LAKE
Tuesday, July 4 |
 Annual parade and fireworks show in Eagle Nest Lake State Park. The Parade goes from 2-3 pm & the shops and restaurants will open on the main street and visitors will participate in the parade. Fireworks will begin at dusk at the northwest side of the park.

FREE CONCERT AT KIT CARSON PARK IN TAOS
Tuesday, July 4 | The town of Taos presents a Free Concert in the Park featuring Ozomatli. Bring a picnic or enjoy the food, beer and wine vendors that will be on site. Gates open at 4 pm.

Family Friendly Activities

MONTE VERDE LAKE
Gather the family and get in touch with nature at Angel Fire Resort’s Monte Verde Lake for some family time fishing, standup paddle boarding or paddle boating on the water. Let the kids try out our Eurobungy & Climbing wall. There are plenty of picnic tables & an easy walking path surrounding the entire lake that every age can enjoy.


DOWNHILL MOUNTAIN BIKING
While in Angel Fire, you can enjoy the largest Bike Park in the Rocky Mountains! If you have never ridden a Bike Park or are a beginner to downhill riding, take our Ready to Ride introduction lesson for only $49. Riders will be introduced to elements of bike control through body positioning, braking and cornering at the base area on a gentle slope under the guidance of an instructor.


HORSEBACK RIDING
Angel Fire’s local Nancy Burch’s Roadrunner Tours offers an abundance of lessons and tours perfect for families to embrace the outdoors and connect with her beautiful horses.


CHAIRLIFT RIDES
Take in the beautiful views as our chairlift rides take you to the summit of our mountain at 10,677 feet. Either hit one of the hiking trails, play disc golf or enjoy food and drinks at the Summit Smokehouse. When you are ready to head back, you have the option of either hiking down or riding the chairlift back to the base area. The views on the way down allow you to see the entire valley and shows views of Wheeler Peak and Eagle Nest Lake State Park.


ZIPLINING
The Angel Fire Resort Zipline Adventure Tours are sure to get your adrenaline pumping and create family memories that will last a lifetime! Between ziplines, you’ll walk along a well-maintained path which allows you to fully enjoy the beauty of the Southern Rocky Mountains. Your kiddos do need to weigh at least 90 lbs to enjoy this one. Space is limited so book your tour in advance.



CROSS-COUNTRY HIKING & BIKING
Angel Fire’s Greenbelt trail system is a free-access system of trails that can be used for cross-country mountain biking, hiking or horseback riding. Other nearby trails include the 23-mile South Boundary Trail, which starts just a few miles south of Angel Fire in the Carson National Forest and endless hiking trails in the Cimarron Canyon.


Vietnam Veterans Memorial State Park
Just a short drive from the resort you will find the United State’s first memorial to Vietnam War Veterans sitting on 30 acres of land surrounded by the beautiful Southern Rockies. Stop by the Visitor Center or Chapel for a day of reflection and remembering.


Enchanted Circle Byway
Grab the kids and jump in the car to follow this 85 mile loop that takes you through New Mexico’s finest mountain scenery as you circle the state’s tallest mountain, Wheeler Peak. Enjoy the wonderful towns of Eagle Nest, Red River, Questa & Taos – all an easy drive on the Enchanted Circle Byway.
