David Simon: A Master Planner Committed To Continuous Improvement
David Simon is a relatively new Member of the Angel Fire Resort community. He and his wife purchased property here in October of 2020. In that short time, however, this experienced project manager and Certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt has established himself as an advocate for both Members — permanent and part-time residents alike — and guests of the Resort.
Read on to learn more about David and why he’s looking to get even more involved in the Angel Fire Resort Member community by running for the AAFPO Board of Directors.
What makes Angel Fire feel most like home to you?
Everything. We’ve been made to feel very welcome by everyone we’ve come into contact with since we began shopping for a home here last August. We’ve especially been impressed by our neighbors’ work ethic. Many of them work multiple jobs so they can call Angel Fire their home and contribute to this wonderful community.
What made you decide to run for a seat on the AAFPO Board of Directors?
I want to help heal and strengthen the relationship between AAFPO, the Resort, and the Village of Angel Fire. We should all be able to grow together and further improve upon everything Angel Fire is about and has to offer its permanent residents, part-time residents, and visitors.
What, in your opinion, is the most pressing issue facing the Member community?
The lawsuit. In addition to being costly, it’s dragging on too long and creating an unnecessary and unhealthy divide between AAFPO and the Resort. A hearing is currently set for August 2022, meaning that we would expect another 12 to 18 months of uncertainty, turmoil, and stalled initiatives to improve Member amenities.
How will you help AAFPO act in your fellow Members’ best interests?
By re-engaging in discussions with the Resort absent a lawsuit. By ensuring that Members are fully informed of every effort AAFPO Board and the Resort undertake and every decision they make.
What special skills or experiences would you bring to the AAFPO Board?
Leadership, practicality, and the ability to see past emotions and act according to facts and data. My professional background is in operations management, value stream mapping, root cause analysis, statistical analysis, and improving process efficiency. I also have board experience. I’ve served on my local soccer association board for 10 years, five of those as President. I’m proud of the work we’ve done to develop the association for the benefit of the members, their children and members to have the best possible experience.
