New Golf Blog and Winter Conditions

January 20, 2016

Hello to all of the those golfers with cabin fever in the snowy regions of the Rockies and beyond.  This is Joe Distefano, superintendent of Angel Fire Resort’s Golf Course and i’m coming to you from a snowy golf course wondering who else might be out there dreaming about summer too!  I will post blogs starting in 2016 to let members and guests know what is going on at the golf club here at Angel Fire Resort. Topics will range from from greens to tees, construction to maintenance, and other interesting gardening tips. Below is a photo of what the course looks like presently.

This is a view of hole 16 covered in a blanket of white stuff taken on a bluebird day early Jan 2016. Golf courses generally pose excellent terrain for these types of activities causing little or no damage to the underlying turf. We have 12 kilometers of trails winding through the hills and dales as well as a sledding hill for younger winter enthusiasts located on the driving range. Other than providing winter fun, the snow brings needed moisture and insulation during cold winter days and nights. Look for more in upcoming blogs on what happens during the winter months here at the Angel Fire resort Golf Club including a Snolf Tournament upcoming in February.
