Valentine’s Day is always a special occasion, even when the holiday falls on Monday. So don’t let the calendar discourage you from taking the time to make memories together. Book a long weekend getaway to Angel Fire Resort and get ready for an amorous adventure like no other.
Keep reading to learn about some of the most romantic spots on our mountain.
1) After dark on the front side of our mountain
Angel Fire Resort is the only resort in New Mexico to offer night skiing. Whether you prefer to explore our 50-plus acres of cross-country trails on skis or snowshoes, you’ll want to stop gazing into each other’s eyes long enough to admire the breathtaking scenery. Few sights are as enchanting as snow sparkling in the moonlight — especially when that snow covers the stunning Rocky Mountain landscapes you’ll encounter here in the Land of Enchantment.
Our alpine playground offers guests tremendous access to some of the darkest skies in the American Southwest. And, appropriately enough, one of the constellations most visible at this time of year is Gemini: the Twins. Look to the east to locate these opposites — one yellow-orange, the other bluish-white — who attract.
2) Elements Fine Dining
From starlight to candlelight… Elements Fine Dining is the perfect place to eat, drink, and be merry with one another. Elements caters to Angel Fire Resort guests looking to enjoy delicious food made from the freshest, most high-quality ingredients like Texas Wagyu beef and Hatch green chiles.
Call 575-377-3055 to make your Valentine’s Day dinner reservation at Elements, then get ready to wine, dine, and unwind.
3) From the back of a horse-drawn carriage
Angel Fire Resort partners with veteran local tour operator Nancy Burch to offer one-of-a-kind experiences to our guests, including gold panning excursions, chuckwagon riding tours, and winter sleigh rides. These hour-long meanders through the forested foothills surrounding the Resort are perfect for snuggling up with your loved one and enjoying all of Mother Nature’s splendor. There are also plenty of stops along the way for snow play, wildlife viewing, and selfies.
Looking for a pre- or post-ride warm-up? Drop in at the Camp Fire Café for hot cocoa, coffee, and baked goods. You can even make a private picnic of your sleigh ride, arranging to have breakfast, lunch, or a ribeye steak dinner included as part of your experience.
4) The Summit Haus
Perched at the tiptop of our mountain, the wraparound patio at The Summit Haus (elevation: 10,667 feet) is one of the most popular sightseeing locations anywhere at Angel Fire Resort. It’s also conveniently located at the end of the Chile Express chairlift. This scenic overlook opens up onto awe-inspiring views that encompass Wheeler Peak, nearby Eagle Nest Lake, and portions of Colorado.
The Summit Haus serves snacks and casual lunch fare daily from 10 a.m to 3:30 p.m. The restaurant also caters to adult tastes with a full bar. If your love language is “quality time,” then The Summit House is definitely a place where you’ll want to pull up a seat and linger awhile with your most special someone.
5) The coziness of your room
Guests staying at The Lodge at Angel Fire Resort enjoy access to multiple amenities. That includes rooms set up for nesting: spacious living areas, king beds, and complimentary WiFi (so go ahead and stream your favorite rom-com). Some rooms also sport private balconies, meaning you and your Valentine can relax while still feeling like you have the great outdoors all to yourselves.
If you’d prefer to stretch out a bit more, consider one of our luxurious condos.
These properties come fully equipped with additional amenities such as kitchens, fireplaces, and hot tubs, all within walking distance of everything the Resort offers.
