Meet the Guides
Both Hawk and Earl are certified Fly Casting Instructors by the International Federation of Fly Fishers. They are also outdoor Emergency Care Technicians with CPR and AED certifications.
Hawk grew up skiing and fly fishing in the Carpathian Mountains in Transylvania and both his hobbies became his passion and profession as an adult. Guiding from the Crystal Mountain streams of Transylvania to the Flats of Belize, to the Coastal Rivers of Alaska, Hawk landed in Northern New Mexico seven years ago where he has worked as a Ski Patrol Director and Fly Fishing Guide. He brings over twenty years’ experience in guiding and teaching fly casting. In 2016, Hawk won the prestigious Single Fly competition held by Trout Unlimited on the Big Wood River in Sun Valley Idaho.
Earl is a career outdoors person having worked in the field of wildlife biology at the Nature Conservancy, the US Forest Service, and the Arizona Game and Fish Department. As the owner and lead guide of Troutback Fly Fishing in the majestic White Mountains of Arizona, fly fishing guiding is second nature for him. For two decades Earl has guided anglers to pristine streams and lakes to catch the elusive Apache trout. In fact, his passion fishing for native trout has brought him to some of the most scenic water of the West. Earl now resides in Northern New Mexico, where he continues to share his love of fly fishing.
