Kid’s Ski School Policies
Below is a summary of important policies for the Children’s Ski & Snowboard School at Angel Fire Resort.
If you have questions, please call (575) 377-4293.
Reservations and Availability
Advance reservations are essential and must be made at least 72 hours before the lesson date.
Same-day or next-day lessons are not guaranteed, are subject to availability, and incur a 25% service fee. If space allows, same-day lessons may be purchased until 8:30 a.m. This ensures that classes begin on time and that your child has the best possible experience.
During the Lesson
- Please do not disturb classes once the lesson has started. Instructors will share progress at the end of the day.
- Check-out begins at 3:30 p.m. Be prompt and make sure to collect all belongings.
- Lessons are physically challenging. Children should be well rested, able to use the restroom independently, and no longer taking naps.
- Ensure your child eats a substantial breakfast before arriving. A hearty meal helps kids stay warm and focused on the mountain.
Grouping and Teaching Philosophy
Our goal is to create a positive, fun first experience on snow. All children are placed in groups appropriate for their age and ability. Angel Fire Resort Ski School uses a skill-based teaching method, focusing on proper technique, comfort, and confidence rather than terrain color.
Birth-Date Verification
Birth certificates are required for all first-time students, ages 12 and under. Once verified, future lessons will not require resubmission.
Email documentation to dob@angelfireresort.com.
Learning Environment
We take great care to provide a nurturing and supportive environment. Our instructors are trained to identify learning styles, manage nerves, and adjust lessons for age-specific development. Parents are encouraged to share any relevant information when booking to help us tailor each child’s experience.
Medical & Special Needs
- Notify staff of any medical or special needs at the time of reservation and at check-in.
- Special diets may require parents to send a lunch with the child.
Please do not include nuts or nut products, our program is nut-free.
Friends, Family, and Lesson Structure
- Friends or siblings may be separated based on age or ability level to ensure optimal learning.
- Lesson time may include rest breaks, organization, or indoor play based on weather and group needs.
- Children unwilling to participate may remain indoors until parents are contacted.
Communication During Lessons
If an issue arises during a lesson, on-mountain communication occurs via message boards at key lifts. Parents may also be contacted by cell phone if needed. Please keep your phone accessible during lesson hours.
Chairlift Riding Policy
Children in lessons may ride chairlifts with other guests, Angel Fire staff, or other children without an adult on the chair. Safety bar use and proper riding technique are always enforced.
Refunds and Weather
- No refunds are issued for weather conditions, unwillingness to participate, or illness. See our Refund Policy for complete details.
- No refunds are provided for unused days or portions of multi-day tickets, lessons, or rentals. If uncertain about duration, purchase daily.
Changes and Administrative Fees
Any changes to Ski and Snowboard School lessons or packages within 14 days of arrival will incur a rescheduling fee of up to 25%. Reschedules or changes may not be accepted during holiday periods.
Accurate Information Policy
Please provide accurate age and ability information. Misrepresenting your child’s age or ability affects class safety and instruction quality. We may request verification at check-in; failure to present documentation may result in removal from the lesson without refund. To avoid delays, email verification to DOB@AngelFireResort.com prior to arrival.
Unauthorized Teaching Policy
Angel Fire Resort is a private company operating on private property. Unauthorized instruction, coaching, or guiding on resort grounds is prohibited. Lessons are exclusively provided through the Angel Fire Ski & Snowboard School. Violations may result in prosecution and permanent ban from resort property. For questions about this policy, contact Robin May, Director of Ski & Snowboard School, at RMay@AngelFireResort.com.
