There is a significant wildfire burning in the Ute Park / Cimarron area to the northeast of Angel Fire Resort. The fire started Thursday afternoon and has burned 8000 acres thus far. The phone systems in Angel Fire, including cell phones, are currently down so we are reaching out via the website and social platforms to provide updates.
The fire is currently 0% contained and with the high winds today (Friday, June 1st) it is expected to continue its aggressive move towards the northeast. At this time, the fire has not impacted Angel Fire with any notable smoke or serious threat. Should the winds shift in the next few days this could change. But for now, all of our activities are business as usual. For anyone traveling to Angel Fire this weekend, Highway 64 between Cimarron and Eagle nest is closed. Highways 64 east (Taos Canyon), 434 (Mora / Coyote Creek Canyon) and 120 (Ocate) are open.
With Ute Park and Cimarron residents evacuated, Angel Fire Resort is offering free rooms at the lodge for evacuees. We are also offering discounted rates for the condos and homes in our property management pool and RV Resort. Anyone in need should call 575-377-4365 (if possible), email cenres@angelfireresort.com, or stop at the lodge for more information.
