Mardi Gras in the Rockies With Hal’s Pals

February 5, 2020

mardigras_emailWe’re boiling craw fish and dusting the snow off our feather hats. So gather your Krewe, and prepare to celebrate a unique Mardi Gras at Angel Fire Resort. Eat, drink, and be merry with us in the Rockies!

So what sets Angel fire Resort’s Mardi Gras celebration apart from all the others in Northern New Mexico? Mardi Gras has long been known as an adult-centered celebration, with beads flying and drinks flowing freely. But Angel Fire Resort’s celebration is different. With family fun as the focus, “Mardi Gras in the Rockies” has something for everyone to do.

Activities like mask making, movie nights, a kid’s parade, a King’s Cake pancake breakfast and a Nerf gun war are sure to please the kids. But don’t worry, we also planned a full festival for the adults too—with a rum tasting, wine tasting and live music every night.

Fat Tuesday will be the crown jewel of the weekend, with a concert featuring Gyth Rigdon. Most folks would be familiar with the Louisiana native from Season 16 of NBC’s “The Voice.” Rigdon, who has been a singer-songwriter since the wee age of three, will perform at the Angel Fire Community Center. Tickets are just $20, and the show is open to all ages. Proceeds from the concert will benefit Music From Angel Fire, a classical music festival returning for its 37th season.

MardiGras

It All Started With Hal’s Pals

Started 31 years ago by Louisiana-native Hal McMillin, Angel Fire Resort’s little taste of the South has expanded into a five-day festival of events surrounding Fat Tuesday. When McMillin first came to Angel Fire Resort, he traded Mardi Gras beads for lift tickets. Each year he would invite more people from Louisiana to join in on the skiing and revelry. The tradition of goodwill and southern hospitality continues today with “Hal’s Pals.”

Now everyone is invited to become a pal of Hal, and come to Angel fire Resort for a family-friendly ski vacation and celebration of Louisiana culture. There will be exclusive discounts on everything from lodging and lift tickets to rentals and tubing. Make sure to ask for HAL’S PALS rates or use code HALSPALS online at check-out!

“Y’all meet us in Angel Fire for the Mardi Gras Celebration and join in on our special discounts! We will have a Louisiana good time! Laissez la bon temp rouler! See you on the slopes at Mardi Gras!”
