Heavy machinery is hard at work on the mountain as Angel Fire Resort in Northern New Mexico prepares for the upcoming ski season. As part of an ongoing forestry health and wildfire mitigation initiative, crews are using masticators to chew up stumps, brush, and wood debris across key ski runs—including Heaven Sent, Deer Glade, and Kofler’s Run. This extensive ground clearing smooths out the terrain, leading to cleaner lines for skiers and snowboarders, improved early-season snow retention, and enhanced glade skiing from opening day onward.
Much of this terrain prep is happening directly beneath the new Angel Express, setting the stage for the grand opening of New Mexico’s first and only high-speed six-person chairlift. Combining fast, comfortable rides to the summit with beautifully cleared runs below, Angel Fire Resort is delivering an upgraded mountain experience for all ability levels this winter.
