The new golf season is upon us. Things are greening up nicely here at Angel Fire Resort golf club. We have been busy with several projects including new tees on 12, new irrigation controller, as well as irrigation upgrades on most areas. We also are working with a machine to eliminate prairie dogs from the playing areas.
New tees on 12 will be ready for play in June. View from new blue tee.
Some improvements at the driving range include removal of old starter shack, practice ball distribution area, and a practice fairway bunker near the top practice tee.
Finally we have been using a machine that will force prairie dogs out of the playing areas.
The machine pumps a slurry of sand that fills the Prairie dog tunnels and forces them to retreat away from the turf areas. It is called a Burrow Blocker. We then smooth and seed the openings and eventually establish and regain these areas for better playing conditions.
We are looking forward to better conditions as the weather starts to feel more like Summer.
