Fall Activities in Angel Fire, NM

Golf
Come tee off at 8,500′ on our par 72, 6,653 yard, 18-hole golf course surrounded by the majestic southern Rocky Mountains that turn into golden hues this time of year. The golf course will remain open until October 31 assuming the weather cooperates. 

Cross-country Hiking & Biking
Angel Fire’s Greenbelt trail system is a free-access system of trails that can be used for cross-country mountain biking, hiking or horseback riding. Enjoy the colors and wildlife viewing while becoming one with nature. Other nearby trails include the 23-mile South Boundary Trail, which starts just a few miles south of Angel Fire in the Carson National Forest and endless hiking trails in the Cimarron Canyon.

Scenic Chairlift Ride
You can take in the beautiful views as our chairlift rides take you to the summit of our mountain at 10,677 feet. Either hit one of the hiking trails, play disc golf or enjoy food and drinks at the Summit Smokehouse. When you are ready to head back, you have the option of either hiking down or riding the chairlift back to the base area. The views on the way down allow you to see the entire valley and shows views of Wheeler Peak and Eagle Nest Lake State Park. You can take in the views every weekend through October 22.

Downhill Mountain Biking
While in Angel Fire, you can enjoy the largest Bike Park in the Rocky Mountains! With a full service bike shop on site, you can get geared up and hit the lifts to ride park through the golden aspens every weekend through October 22.

Monte Verde Lake
The lake is open until the end of October, so gather the family and get in touch with nature at Angel Fire Resort’s Monte Verde Lake for some family time fishing, hiking, standup paddle boarding or paddle boating. There are plenty of picnic tables & an easy walking path surrounding the entire lake that every age can enjoy. Open until Oct. 31.

ATV/Off Roading
Plan the ultimate outdoor adventure for the entire family. You can ride ATVs through the magnificent Carson National Forest back to the Old Red River Pass. The views are spectacular and will leave you with unforgettable family memories for years to come. Angel Fire features easy access to over 50 miles of off-road trails through the Carson National Forest, and because each trail presents a different degree of driving difficulty, you are sure to find a trail that suits your ability.

Horseback Riding
Angel Fire’s local Nancy Burch’s Roadrunner Tours offers an abundance of lessons and tours perfect for families to embrace the outdoors and connect with her beautiful horses.

Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway Drive
Grab the family and jump in the car to follow this 85 mile loop that takes you through New Mexico’s finest mountain scenery in fall as you circle the state’s tallest mountain, Wheeler Peak. Just a short drive from the resort you will find the United State’s first memorial to Vietnam War Veterans sitting on 30 acres of land surrounded by the beautiful Southern Rockies. Continue on to enjoy the quaint towns of Eagle Nest, Red River, Questa & Taos – all an easy drive on the Enchanted Circle Byway.
