What to Expect: Kid’s Snowboard School

Curious about where your child should be at the end of his or her snowboard school lesson? Here is a reasonable chart to use as a reference guide. Please remember, every child is different and may learn at a different pace.

(6-7 yr. Old)
Balance on equipment in a straight glide Can stop on command using a J-Turn Child can heel and toe side traverse on easy Green runs Heel side and Toe side turns on easy Green runs Linked Heel side and Toe side turns on easy Green runs
Grades 3-4
(8-9 yr. Old)
Balance on equipment in a straight glide and can stop using a J-turn Able to heel and toe side traverse on easy Green runs. Introduction to turns Can link Heel side and Toe side turns on easy Green runs Able to link Heel side and Toe side turns on all Green runs. Can link Heel side and Toe side turns with rhythm on Green runs. Introduction to blue runs.
Grade 5-7
(10-12 yr. Old)
Balance on equipment in a straight glide and can stop using a J- turn Can heel and toe side traverse on easy Green runs. Introduction to turns Able to link Heel side and Toe side turns on all Green runs Can link Heel side and Toe side turns with rhythm on Green runs. Introduction to Blue runs.
