This is the scene that awaits you at the Fifth Annual Monte Verde Lake Regatta. It’s one of Angel Fire Resort’s most delightfully fun and lighthearted traditions.
On Saturday, August 9th, from 10 AM to 2 PM, Monte Verde Lake transforms into a lively playground of friendly competition, creativity, and summertime joy.
Paddle. Pedal. Play.
Whether you prefer gliding across the glassy water on a kayak, testing your balance on a paddle board, or pedaling your heart out in a pedal boat, the Regatta offers a chance to compete or simply float and soak in the sunshine. You’ll cheer on teammates, exchange playful banter with fellow racers, and laugh your way through the races as you try to outpace the competition.
And for those who like to stand out, the Best Decorated Boat Contest is your chance to get creative. Expect to see everything from pirate ships to floating flamingos because here, imagination is half the fun.
New This Year at the Regatta: The Ski Boot Marathon
In true Angel Fire fashion, we’re bringing a little mountain flair to the lake with our newest (and most ridiculous) challenge: the Ski Boot Marathon. No, it’s not 26 miles, but it is a hilarious race in ski boots! Bring your own boots (or borrow some of ours . . . we’ll have old rental boots available) to join the fun. It’s a spectacle you won’t want to miss.

Between races, find your way to the shore for brats and brews because nothing pairs better with a lake day than good food, cold drinks, and the company of fellow lake lovers.
Whether you’re racing, relaxing, or just spectating from the shore with your toes in the cool water, the Monte Verde Lake Regatta promises a day filled with laughter, sunshine, and plenty of memories.
Make it Easy:
If you don’t have your own kayak, paddle board, or pedal boat, no problem! Rentals are available on-site at the Boat House. Registration is free and can be done online in advance or in person on the day of the event.
