Home to Angel Fire Resort, the Moreno Valley is one of Land of Enchantment’s most enchanting destinations. There are so many magical summer adventures to take across the forested valley floor that it can be tempting to overlook the surrounding peaks of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
Read on to learn more about the different ways you and your family can elevate your mountain vacation to new heights at Angel Fire Resort this summer.
Take a Scenic Journey to the Top of the Mountain
You can soak up the sunny and majestic mountain views with ease from our Chile Express chairlift. Head to the mountain’s summit, which sits 10,677 feet above sea level, to view some of the most magnificent scenery the American Southwest has to offer.
Once you reach the top, you’ll discover plenty of activities to fill your day. You may opt to grab a bite at Summit Haus, play a round of disc golf, or zipline. Hikers can even ride the Chile Express and then wind their way back down on one of our carefully maintained trails.
You can purchase chairlift tickets at the Ticket Office located at the base of the mountain. The fare for a round trip is $20 per person, but children ages 6 and younger can ride for free.
Experience an Alpine Playground That’s Well Above Par
You don’t need a fancy set of clubs to score an ace at Angel Fire Resort. If you can flick your wrist, you can test your skills on our top-rated, 18-hole disc golf course.
As soon as you step off the Chile Express, you’ll find the first hole of the disc golf course a few steps away. Our course is outfitted with both amateur and pro tee pads, allowing your group to play at their own pace and comfort level.
Our course winds its way through some truly breathtaking scenery. When you reach the 18th hole, you’ll find yourself back at the central summit area, where you can refuel at the Summit Haus — and enjoy more spectacular views from its wraparound patio — or hop on the Chile Express to venture back down the mountain.
You must purchase a lift ticket or hold a season pass to play disc golf on our course. We also offer $30 disc rental packages for all ages (lift ticket included). If you bring your own discs, you only need to purchase the $20 lift ticket. Don’t forget to ask for a course map and scorecard when you stop by the Ticket Office at the base of the Chile Express chairlift.
Clip Up and Accelerate into Adventure
Imagine breathing in the fresh alpine air as you zoom over treetops. You don’t have to when you take one of our thrilling Zipline Adventure Tours! With six incredible courses and five scenic chairlift rides to experience, you’ll gain a whole new perspective on what makes the great outdoors at Angel Fire Resort so great.
Two expertly trained guides will accompany your party, making sure you don’t miss any of the many highlights along the way. They’ll also be there to help ensure your safety.
You can help them in that effort by adequately preparing for your zipline tour.
- Dress in light layers
- Wear closed-toe shoes (no sandals or flip-flops, please).
- Tie back any long hair.
- Apply plenty of sunscreen.
- Bring masks and be willing to practice social distancing.
- Bring gloves. We recommend gloves made from a reusable fabric, such as gardening gloves or biking gloves.
Zipline tours are offered every hour between 8 AM and 1 PM, Monday through Friday. All tours except the 1 PM tour must be booked in advance. Anyone ziplining must sign a waiver prior to arrival. Please also be advised that weight restrictions apply. Finally, please arrive at the Ticket Office no less than 30 minutes before your scheduled tour.
Enjoy Patio Dining That’s on Another Level
Whether you ride the Chile Express up the mountain for ziplining, hiking, disc golf, or just to get a view from the top of the world, you’re in for a treat. Food tastes better at high altitudes, especially when it’s served at the Summit Haus.
Summit Haus guests can choose from rib-sticking cookout favorites — including BBQ brisket sandwiches, Nathan’s hot dogs, and mac and cheese — cookies and sweets, and adult beverages at the bar. Best of all, you can secure a lookout post on our mountaintop restaurant’s wraparound patio and survey picturesque landscapes that stretch beyond Eagle Nest Lake all the way to neighboring Colorado.
